Normative and Descriptive Sources of Italian: Digital Corpus of Texts from the 16th to the 19th centuries
This project, falling under the auspices of the Biblioteca Digitale Italiana (Italian Digital Library) is designed to allow scholars, through the digital acquisition of printed texts, to reconstruct the cultural milieu and state of lexical, grammatical and philological studies in particularly prominent moments of the history of the Italian language.
This digital archive revolves around four main cores of texts (86 editions with a total amount of approx. 63,000 images):
- Italian grammars published after the Vocabolario degli Accademici della Crusca of 1612 until 1900;
- The texts pertaining to the linguistic debate surrounding the anti-Crusca polemic;
- The unofficial editions of Vocabolario degli Accademici della Crusca;
- Eighteenth century lexicography.
